Was thinking about purchasing an HID kit for my Volvo S40, but after some research learned cheap HID kits can severally damage my wiring and fry some things such as the windshield wiper motor. I was sick of my yellow halogens, I wanted a brighter, whiter light that would not only look good, but provide good light output. The said thing about halogen bulbs is for the most part you get to pick between color, or light output. You COULD buy cheap ebay blue bulbs that will put out the color of HIDs but the actual light put out will be utterly useless and dangerous. The other option is the expensive Sylvania Silverstar, or the Silverstar Ultras, which do put out a lot of light, but are very yellow and don't last long at all. I am happy to say these phillips bulbs are the best I've seen at USEABLE light for driving, and color to add style to your vehicle so they fall right in the middle for a perfect fit for me, or anyone else looking for functional nice looking lights. The color is WHITE, not blue, but at night the white is a blue hue which is especially seen on road signs. Light output is superb, I can definitely see the road is lit up more and street signs and reflectors light up sooner giving me more time to react. I have projector lenses, so the stock bulbs threw just as wide as these so I cannot comment on how wide they are, but they look great. These are the bulbs for you if you are looking for the perfect balance between style and usability.
