I bought this to provide sleeping accomodations for an extra guest, as well as additional seating, and it meets both requirements perfectly. The only problem is that the mattress is way too thin for comfort, so I got a high-quality memory foam 3" mattress topper, which works perfectly, but added almost $100 to the total cost. Without the topper, you can feel the bars underneath the mattress, but with it, the bed is very comfortable. The topper can stay on the bed when it folds, and springs back out when the bed is opened. If I didn't want the additional seating, I would purchase a roll-away bed (already have one) since they are less expensive and take up less space when not in use; this piece is fairly large. The wheels make it easy to move around, though, and it looks nice with my other furniture. Against a wall, and with a few pillows, it provides comfortable seating for two, or you could use it in place of a coffee table in front of the sofa.
