San Antonio water sucks
I live in San Antonio which has some of the hardest water around. Like seriously someone came out to test our water and they were explaining that 1.0-3.5 is slightly hard, 3.5-7.0 is moderately hard, 7.0-10.5 is hard and anything over 10.5 is very hard...our water was rated an 18!!! I moved here from NJ where they have magical water that makes you feel like your bathing in silk so this water was dealing havoc on my hair and skin. I kept telling my SO that we needed a water softener but he grew up in Texas and didn't notice the difference (that is until he came with me to NJ and experienced our magic water). We bought this as a compromise since we couldn't afford a water softener and I noticed the difference in my first shower, it's no NJ water but I no longer smell like I've been swimming in a pool when I get out of the shower and my skin and hair feel less dry. Because our water is so hard I believe the filters are going to need to be changed at a fraction of what they should last but it's still cheaper than a water softener.
