Device requires separate power supply which is not provided.
This is a tiny "swamp cooler" that runs on 5v USB power through a USB-C connection.
It costs (or this one, the EV-500 "EvaChill" cost) $98. They don't provide the power supply to run it, though they do provide a USB-A to USB-3 connection so you can power it from whatever power supply you have. It's not completely clear that they don't provide this and I didn't expect it not to be there; the return policy is such that by the time I picked it up from the local amazon distro hub, I would not be able to return it, and that's a bit annoying.
The lack of power supply plus the very short return policy means I knocked off two stars from my overall review.
For 98 bucks, a power supply isn't an unreasonable expectation.
Other similar devices are available for about 58-80 dollars, and I am not sure whether they have a power supply either. But the reason I spent a little extra for this one was because most swamp coolers have a problem with mold and mildew. Swamp coolers are basically a fan blowing over a "heat sink" arrangement that consists of flat folded fins of something like cardboard, that wick water into their chamber. The water, evaporating from the surface, cools and humidifies the air, which results in a cooler breeze but not a dehydrated breeze like you get from an air conditioner. But they're susceptible to mold and mildew.
The description claimed that this one contains non-organic materials that don't support the growth of mold and mildew. I will certainly find out whether or not that's true, but if so, it's worth 10-20 bucks to me, IF there were a power supply included.
