My Speak Plus was deliverered two days ago and at first it seemed ok. I already had a Speak in my wife’s car so I had experience with this device. The next day I was able to get out in the world with it and see how it worked. It was a little glitchy and temperamental. I was able to connect, navigate, and play music just fine. Get back in the car and the app couldn’t find the Speak until I power cycled it. This happened several time that day. I was not real impressed at that point. I got a notification on my phone that a software update was available for the Speak itself. It was currently version 3.80 and the update was to 5.20. I confirmed it had updated and took it out cruising around today. It didn’t have any issues today. I navigated to a store while streaming music, no prob. Picked up a Valentine’s Day card, came back out, connected right up, told her to resume my song and it did. I went into camera view mode, WiFi connected quickly, checked the cameras aim, pushed the disconnect button on the Speak, it resumed the song and navigation. Is it perfect?....no, but it is much better today than it was yesterday. I got my first Echo three years ago and at first it was pretty lame. So much has changed in that time. It has taken a while for the Echo to develop.....I’m sure the Speak will get better too! UPDATE: 2/14/18 Someone said that theirs came with 4Gb Micro Sd card, both of mine came with 8Gb cards. I might upgrade, but i haven't decided yet. You only really need it to record an "incident" and some buffer room to get by. I took it out today on the interstate today, and it did what they claimed it would do. It warned me that the car that merged in front of me was too close. There is construction going on. so the lines and lanes shift in a few places in odd ways. This caused the lane departure warnings to kick in. It works, but it may not be super sensitive or it might be right on and not bug you when you change lanes on purpose. I was 2nd at a light near my home when the light changed. 1st car went and wasn't too far away, the "GO" feature kicked in. Rockin" out to Music Unlimited, navigating to and fro, and getting real-time "crazy driver" alerts, What more could a boy want ?! I'm at 4.5 stars now. If they tweak it in the right direction. I'll give it 5 in the future. There also was an update to the Speak software today. Now it is V. 5.30 ! INSTALL TIP: My phone was paired with my car long before I bought a Speak and I figured out its easier to set it up without the car. It was like the car would grab the Bluetooth from the phone and the Speak wouldn't connect to set it up. I used a power adapter and a usb cord and powered it up in the house. The speak and the phone hooked right up. Just answer the questions and if your phone makes the sounds, your good to go. If you leave it plugged in and leave the phone connected, it will do the updating in 30 minutes or less. You can check the firmware version by holding both buttons until the display changes, let go and it will scroll the info screens. Push the bottom button to return to normal. UPDATE: 2/25/18 My wife and Alexa have been "carpooling" for over a week now and they haven't had any "fights". I ask her everyday if she's had any issues and so far she is happy. After her first trip with the Speak, the first comment she made about Alexa, was that she was kinda a backseat driver. The lane keeping assist and collision avoidance systems were working. I also discovered that the "GO" feature works at the drive-thru. I pulled the memory card and reviewed some of the video. It looked good and it picks up voices in the car very well. The 8Gb card held about 90 minutes of video. I upgraded the card to a 64Gb to give me close to 12 hours of video. There has been another Speak update, it's at v5.40 and there has also been an app update as well. Overall, we are both happy with the Speak Plus and enjoy the infotainment it brings to our cars. 4.75 Stars
