Love my ZIP, but read this first.
I was a bit hesitant to buy this countertop water filter at first based on one negative review. But then I decided to give it a shot because I could return the unit if it didn't work out. Throughout the years I had two undersink reverse osmosis units and know a little bit about them. In undersink reverse osmosis system rejected water goes directly into the drain. But that, of course, requires a permanent plumbing with tubing and kitchen pipes. With this system there are no connections, so the rejected water with all the bad stuff ends up in the bottom tank after filtering is completed. After reading the manual and using ZIP for a few days, I can see why some people might have a problem. Because if you don't empty out the bottom tank to get rid of the water that's been filtered once already and just add more water on top of it, eventually, you will have so much junk in there that the system won't be able to keep up. So if you are thinking about buying this system and planning on NOT reading the manual, just empty out the leftover water from the bottom tank after each filtration cycle, and this system will work like a charm. As you will see in the video my kitchen faucet water TDS is-298, after ZIP - 32. The waste water is 508 - you don’t want to filter it the second time. ZIP has alkaline post filter that adds minerals to the filtered water. So naturally, filtered water TDS will be slightly higher comparing to other reverse osmosis systems without alkaline post filter.
