The panels came packaged to survive Armageddon. It was double-boxed and double-banded and the panels were further protected with foam blankets on the inside. The panels are very well made with heavy gauge aluminium and quality assembly.
Note that the kit does not come with extension cables, z-brackets or wire from the charge controller to the batteries. It has enough to assemble everything close to the batteries and confirm that it's working before you commit to full installation. Also, if you're going to connect the panels in parallel, you'll need two T-branch connectors.
Setup was EXTREMELY fast and easy. I am no professional and it took me about 20 minutes from the time I started opening the box until my RV batteries were charging. I was not hurrying either. The MC4 cables and connectors are really cool. Much larger than I expected as this was my first experience with them. It's great that the solar industry has standardized on those connectors as they are very robust and will last decades in outdoor environments. The connectors and cables seem expensive but after you hold them in your hands, you'll see they are worth it.
I installed the panels on the roof of an RV in a flat horizontal orientation. At about 12:30 in the afternoon (sun high and no clouds), both panels together were producing a steady 190 watts or 15.8 amps. This was beyond my expectations as I was hoping for about 10 amps at best. This is based on my previous experience with other panels. I suppose the Renogy panels will produce even more power if I orient them perfectly towards the sun but that won't happen in my application. I'm charging two 6 volt batteries wired in series.
So in the end, this was literally a 3 hour project because my RV's design allowed me to route the cables easily. I did have to make one call to Renogy tech support to ask how to change the battery type on the charge controller. I have flooded cell batteries and could not tell if it was properly configured out of the box as the instructions were not clear. I got straight through to the agent and he confirmed the controller is auto-detecting and was already set properly.
Very pleased so far and I will update if there are any changes.
April 4, 2016 Update: Panels, cabling and charge controller have worked flawlessly since installation. I just got back from a week-long trip to the desert where we really relied on the sun. I have a 5,500 watt generator and only used it in the times where we needed microwave, toaster or my wife's hair tools. We left the inverter on all the time so there was always power to the TV, Bluray player, etc. It was a cold week and we really used the furnace and indoor lights quite a bit. All this from only two, 4 year old 6 volt golf cart batteries. The voltage at the batteries stayed at about 12.4 to 12.6 volts when under inverter load with the solar panels recharging. If I disconnect everything (like during winter storage), the solar panels will hold the batteries at 13.6 volts.
