This is the best hot tool I've ever purchased. First, the plates do not touch completely, but that's ok, my hair gets straight still and doesn't snag. To keep it working well you must clean the serums, etc off of the iron or the plates will separate from the unit. This is not a flaw in the product. You must maintain it as with anything else. I was initially afraid to buy this because some have said theirs quit on them. Thankfully, I have not experienced that.This works very nicely for my hair. I'm African American and my hair has a mixture of textures. My hair is natural and I keep it straight by straightening it once a week....and no, it does not damage my hair to straighten once a week. My hair is long due to the products that I use, this being one of them. I wash with V05. Then use a cholesterol treatment sometimes. After washing, I use generic it's a 10 deep conditioner from Sally's. I rinse that out and put just a dime sized amount of Chi serum on four sections of damp hair. While my hair is wet I dry with the Revlon hot air brush. Lastly, I flat iron with the Babyliss. I invested in this one which was a bit pricier. It was a great investment. My hair comes out very silky, light, and bouncy. I get many compliments and my hair is very healthy from these simple products. I hope this works for you as well.
