Champion 20 vs Champion 40
This review is more of a comparison between the 20 and the 40 than a review of how the Champions sound. They both sound great.
I bought the Champion 20 at first, which is a great sounding amp that also looks cute. It also has all the sounds I wanted and it can play amazingly loud even though it is small.
Then I realized that it does not have the capability to quickly switch from clean to rock/metal sounds using a foot switch. So I bought a Champion 40 instead and returned the 20 (the foot switch needs to be bought separately though as it does not come with either the 20 or the 40).
Also got a chance to compare both amps side by side. I like the sound of the Champion 40 way better than the 20. It was better rounded, warmer and richer sounding than the 20.
Also, I did not notice any excessive boominess/bass in the 40 that some users complained about.
The "popping" sound when you turn off the amp is very minimal on the 40. However, on the 20 it is noticably louder that you might think something is wrong with it.
If you are torn between the 2 models for a buying decision, hope this post helps.
