What this Compressor is, and what's it's not.
What more could be said that countless videos and other reviews haven't already? Well, there may be something else to be said. But before I get to that, and to be clear, if you are looking for the best solution to maintain your tow vehicle and RV tries while on the road, there are precious few better options than Viair; and especially the two kits expressly put together for RV's. While I won't argue against the purchase of Viair compressors, I would like to interject a voice of reason. It's not news that Viair compressors are expensive. And while everyone is singing Viair's praises for being so top notch; very few people stop to acknowledge the FACT that every last bit of the kit you get, is rough around the edges considering the money you are spending. The compressor I am looking at is not exactly out of a German manufacturing plant. The Viair compressor is squarely made in china. And while the compressor is by no means a pile of garbage, (it's among the best compressors of it's kind available), it's very much on lets say, the higher end of what you would expect out of a Chinese product. The fit and finish in all aspects, right down to the carrying bag, leaves something to be desired. Rounding out the reality check is another FACT. The Viair compressor excels at one thing. TOPPING OFF your tow vehicle and RV's tires. It's actually not really all that great at doing anything else. And if you happen to be an off roader looking for a compressor to re-inflate your big balloon tires after a day of muddin, I strongly suggest you do you homework on Viair compressors before pulling the trigger. I am in no way dissatisfied with my purchase. I believe it will do exactly what I need it to do, and I believe it will do it for many years. But if we are all being honest, you are definitely paying a PRO Tool premium for an otherwise Consumer Grade tool. In a market where Viair had any competition at all, the 400P and 450P RV kits would be selling for closer to $180-$200.
