WARNING: Your spouse may get jealous of your love for this mattress.
Review of my Purple Mattress. :)
HISTORY:We used to have an Intellibed Mattress that I loved. Like... loved so much that every night, for 10 years, I would lay down and literally say out loud "I love our bed!" to my husband.
Then springs started popping out the sides and it was obvious that we needed a new one. So we did the logical thing and went to the same store, bought the same bed (or so we thought), but I hated it. Like.... HATED it. I thought maybe it just needed to be broken in, so I kept trying it, I kept losing sleep. A year later, I bought myself a different cheaper mattress and slept in a separate bed (in the same room) as my husband. Romantic, right? Sleep is pretty important though. That new mattress wasn't that great either to be honest and when my daughter needed a new mattress later, I gave it to her and went back to the Intellibed. I missed my husband. (He could sleep on the floor or a bed of feathers equally.)
On top of all this... I have a daughter with an autoimmune disease that often needs to be checked through the night to keep alive. So when I can sleep... I NEED sleep. I shouldn't be fighting with my mattress.
I started losing feeling and going numb in my fingers. Doctor appointments, Neuro Docs who wanted to operate and said they thought I had severe carpal tunnel (suddenly? over a year?). A Chiropractor finally helped me get it to feel better but it would come back and I was constantly fighting for feeling in my fingers and arms. It got so bad at one point that I couldn't hold a fork and eat or use a pencil, I had no feeling. I had the idea that it might be the mattress and asked my chiro and he confirmed that it is possible that I'm pinching those nerves every night then fighting to fix it through the day.
I started trying foam pads, gel pads, anything. It eased the nerves a bit but I had still pain in my hips and shoulders. Altogether with the mattresses, and pads, etc... I'd say we spent $5,000.00 or more. All this trying to make a new mattress feel better? Crazy!
PURPLE MATTRESS:
$1,000 and a 100 Day Money Back Guarantee. It looked very similar to what our original Intellibed was supposed to be. The gel and raw egg test was what sold it for me and hey, if I didn't love it they would come back and get it and I'd get my money back.
They were a bit backed up on production because it suddenly took off faster than they expected. I live in Utah and I was so desperate I wanted to go pick it up myself to get it as soon as possible. My mattress took a week to be ready for pick up.
It was HEAVY! I had to wait for my husband to help me get it up the stairs, unwrapped and then on our box frame. They had warned me on the phone that I would probably be sore for the first few nights while my body aligned and adjusted. This made me wary.
After the first night, I realized that I wasn't tossing and turning through the night, there wasn't pressure on my hips and shoulders or lower back. I woke up in the morning and to my surprise my muscles were sore everywhere, as if I had just had a deep tissue massage. The 2nd night my muscles hurt less and I had feeling in my hands and fingers again. 3rd night about the same, still sleeping amazingly. After about a week I started feeling amazing when I woke up.
It's been over a month now and I want to buy one for my kids now too. (Saving up the money.) I sleep SO well, hardly move through the night, have no more issues with my nerves, no more back, hip or shoulder pain, I can feel my fingers!
I would highly recommend this mattress to everyone. LOVE IT!
