We just got it in so it has not been installed yet, but we did turn it on to see how it looked. I was very pleased. We tried both the crystals & the fake logs and we liked the fake logs best. It has a great 3d effect. You can't beat the price & look of this one. I searched for a long time and every other electric fireplace I found in this size & shape was closer to $1000 or over. We even turned on the heat and I think that's going to be a nice feature in the winter. I'm not sure if it will heat the room, but I'll update the review once it's in & we've been using it. I took a video of it while it was sitting on the floor (no glass on) while we were testing fake logs. UPDATE: 2/22/16 We finally finished the fireplace build and got it all in place (new picture from a few days ago). We used the fireplace some before the rock on the fireplace was installed (put it in termporarily with just the backboard on). Tonight I turn it on & come back and it's off. I tried to turn it on again and it flashes the flames and shuts back off. I did buy the warranty so will update when I figure out what's going on and how it's resolved. Obviously, we bought it first to be sure we built our fireplace with the size in mind so I'm disappointed to already have an issue with it because it looks really cool when it's on. I even enjoy the heat feature because I can stand in front of it for a little warmth. UPDATE: 4/28/16 The manufacturer of this product is top notch. This should take the fear out of buying one. I called them and they shipped a new unit to me with instructions & shipping label to send the other one back to them. I'm grateful they are more than willing to make sure their customers are happy. It's a win-win!!!
