Wow this is some Game
Let me begin by saying that I kept seeing this game over and over and over again as being in the top games on ipad and kindle....I gave it a shot and wow I was impressed
See I played minecraft on the kindle but I found it slow , kinda boring and more of a building game and I wanted adventure and more purpose. This game gave me that.
The game itself has delightful music that changes between different areas of the game you explore. The game is open world as you can explore all the way to the depths of the underworld or go up and explore a sky area. At the moment the game itself does not have a hard mode so less then half the content from the pc version isn't on here ....yet. Hopefully with a new update we can get all the content that exists in the pc as it adds a lot more items, weapons and bosses.
There go another thing about this game , bosses ! If you aren't ready you will get creamed easily but the game isn't going to hold your hand about it either. You have to explore , dig, fight and craft your way to winning these battles and find the right weapons and armor that pertain to you as a player.
The games controls can be a touch sensitive but are for the most part very responsive. It utilizes a left virtual joystick (only appears when you touch the tablet on the left side and a Right virtual joystick. Most everything else if something you have to tap to do such as crafting an item. The controls are more fluid into he console and Pc version (yes this game was that good I bought the console version)
Its good to note some things in this game:
-No hard more
-It will generate a small map every time (check the Terraria Wiki) On console and pc you can choose the size of the map but that's okay as this allows for resources to be mined faster If the world was too large it can take several minutes up to an hour to reach certain areas
-The difficulty in general seems lower then console or PC
-Bosses are optional but if you want good stuff you have to beat them.
-You can create up to 3 worlds and 3 characters - Each world is randomly generated but you create your own character
-If you delete your world you lose all items left behind but if you character is not deleted you remain with any items on your person.
-There are only 10 hearts you can go to and half the mana from pc and console ( I assume this will go up with new update)
All in all I think this is a great pick up and play game , I play it on my ride on the train to work and back , kids will like it but may need some assistance early on slight warning there is I guess pixelated blood but not a crazy amount just a little bit upon enemy or character death - It is funny when you die as a tombstone describing why you died pops up like "Rob tried to swim in lava" you can pick them up and change them if you like
I haven't tried multiplayer as I don't know anyone else with another kindle as the game is only multi through similar devices. I assume though that it would be good as the console version is great with multiplayer.
There are tons and tons and tons of items to get and pets that you can have , several enemies , and a huge amount of cartable items that you can create amazing weapons OR simply decorate your own house or castle. I was shocked at the amount of stuff this one game can have
For $5.00 its well worth it esp since they will update up to 1.2 soon which adds a crazy amount of content.
Here are some player tips :
1-Chop wood up right away and build your home and build a background wall made of wood , if you run out the acorn makes more trees when planted.
2-Chests can be taken once you loot them this saves you time of making your own- simply hammer them or use the pickaxe to dig under them.
3- Be wary of the items you pick up as you may find a similar weapon but with better attributes
4-Watch for falling stars at night
5-Craft a full set of armor and Hammer right away ( full sets of armor head, chest, legs, will give you bonuses)
Download and enjoy !
