Made a statistically significant difference in my cat's drinking
I'm a scientist who has a cat. I had read that cats like moving water better, and the Pure Drink looked like the best balance of design and cost out of the many fountains I looked at. So I set up an experiment to see if there really was a difference. I thought the easiest way to track the amount my cat was drinking was to count the "pee balls" I take out of the litter box every day. So I did that for 2 weeks with her old water bowl, and then switched over to the Pure Drink, with a week in between so my cat could get used to it. Overall, there were more pee balls when she was drinking from the Pure Water. I've attached the graph, and a t-test gives a p value of 0.0016, which is significant. I'm not sure if it is the moving, aerated water, or the fact that it is filtered constantly and so tastes better. In either case, my cat loves this! I like it because I don't have to give her fresh water every day. In the past I have forgotten sometimes, which made me feel terrible. No more guilt! It has a nice blinking light to tell me when the water is low, and the pump shuts off automatically so it doesn't burn out. Something that I did not see in the information here, that some might find useful, is that you can shut off all the lights if you like dark rooms. Noise was not a concern for me, but I have to say, it's completely silent. Zero sound unless you put your ear right up to it. Not even splashing water noise. The power saving mode is great. Small size is great for 1 cat, probably be good with 2-3 also.
Edit: in retrospect, I should have used a box and whisker plot... lol
