This will be a long review but worth the read. So, I've had 3 cervical spine surgeries (4 level acdf) 2 of them following an auto accident. I've also had a shoulder & hip replacement. I have an extremely expensive memory foam IComfort bed and have gone through dozens of pillows which I thought would be the answer to all my sleeping issues. My daughter has a pretty incredible bed and the past few times I've stayed with her, I've had the best night sleep (the only good sleep) and she finally told me it was because she had purchased a mattress topper. She sent me photos (she had a 3 inch standard gel/foam topper). I set out on a mission. I had no idea how many options there were to choose from. So many claims / conflicting reviews -- I researched dozens and dozens and read dozens and dozens of reviews on each one -- Then, I came to this specific topper!! I narrowed it down to 3 different toppers and ultimately -- I purchased the Innovations Dual Layer Gel Topper I chose The Innovations topper because 1) it had more positive reviews than any other on the market 2) It came with a cover that would encompass the memory foam portion of the topper (and it's so deep that it even covers my deep queen sized IComfort Memory mattress) 3) it was a combination of the 2 types of toppers available 4) I was afraid the 2 inches would be two thin and the 4 would be too thick and felt this combination would be the perfect compromise (and it was). 5) It was extremely affordable in comparison to all of the others available. I removed the 2 piece(s) from the box and unrolled it right onto the bed.. It had no odor whatsoever and it laid out perfectly flat. I placed the 2nd topper right on top and pulled it down around the memory foam topper (which was slightly larger however it just formed around my own mattress) and then extended it down past my bed's mattress and made my bed. My first night and all subsequent night's sleep have been pretty incredible. It is slightly/noticeably higher and you do kind of fluff into the bed but not nearly as much as some of the reviews indicated. One review had me laughing so hard , it made me cry -- that I'd be literally fighting and at war with my mattress every night-- not true!!! I can say that I had the absolute worst bursitis pain imaginable following my hip replacement surgery. I really did not know that is what it was until about a year after my surgery, I went to my surgeon telling him how much pain I was in down the one side. After examining my hip and showing me xrays he indicated how perfect it looked and then did a few "touch tests which were immensely painful. I received the first of many shots right into the bursa and typically count the days till I can have the next one (about every 45 days -- until I got this topper (the last shot I received was in September) -- Before this topper, I could not sleep on that side -- EVER!! I had to lift my leg with my hands to help me turn over in bed, had to lift my leg with my hands to cross them like a lady!! Now, it's barely noticeable and I even told my husband the other day that not only has it helped my sleeping (back, neck, hip) but my pain level during the day is almost a "non issue" like it was prior to the topper --- It's pretty darn amazing! My husband has terrible hip issues and arthritis and he's the biggest Negative-Nellie there is about anything I try. He had always hated our bed but he's really loved the first days of having the topper. He has said he does feel much better since having the topper (but he needs hip surgery so his issues are different than mine). I for sure can say that the Innovations Topper solved the exact issues I needed it to solve without it being so significantly different than what I'd already had previously based on the reviews .. I hope that if I ever need another one, this exact one will still be available because I will never order any other kind. I plan to get one for every bed in my home as soon as I start to remodel and will buy them as gifts when I can. I've told everyone I can think of "my story" -- including all my Doctors, Nurses, PT's etc -- -- If there is a way for me to sell them for you, let me know! I'll be your No 1 sales person for sure!!
