Surprisingly a great tasting meat to add or to meal.
Surprisingly a great tasting product. I have tried several packets and they really are very tasty on the trail. The packets read 1 serving = 1 cup, prepared food, each packet contains 2.5 to 3.0 serving. realistically maybe 2.0 serving. Personally, hiking or doing physical work in the woods you will easily eat an entire package and be full, about 450 to 500 calories (~240/serving). Hiking with a pack one can easily use 2500 to 4000 cal/day. As a survival food as a supplement food these are a good choice. Latest version have 14g of protein and are not all carbs (pasta, rice, sugar). My experience, with plenty of water you could easily prosper on 2 packets/day doing 10+12 miles per day in hilly country 5 day. Not club med but you would be doing okay. Packets are convenient, my opinion single serving pouch ( maybe 2 serving), hydrate with hot water in pouch and reseal; even if you can't add HOT water they will hydrate and taste fine. Other products I have used come with 5 to 6 serving/pouch which requires the user to use a cooking pot and measure. That is okay, just not as convenient because you often have to approximate a serving, and also COOK it.
