My eyes boggled at the price tag and all the components needed to make this system work (and keep working over time). Not to mention that I have two cats, one of which is an old lady cat that’s set in her ways. Would she even give it a chance? Step 1: Set up. Ok, this thing is yuuuuge. Bigger than it looks. It’s the XL model, made for multiple cats, and man they aren’t lying. Both the cats can get in it with room to tango! The pellets are a new thing for me. Never seen this type of litter before. Then there’s a pull-out drawer for the pee pad. So the concept is that the solid stays in the pellets, the liquid falls down through the grate into the absorbent pad. Step 2: Transition “What the heck is this, human?!” So I set up the Breeze XL next to the regular litter box. The old lady cat wanted nothing to do with it at first, while the younger cat got in and played with the pellets. It took a couple days of checking, before pee started showing up on the pad. Still no “solid.” I moved some “solid” over from the old cat box and stopped refilling the old litter to encourage them to use the Breeze. Over the next two weeks, slowly, the girls started accepting the new box more and using the old box less. (Probably because it was recommended that I stop cleaning the old box-yuck!-but it worked.) Observations: I don’t know what peculiar voodoo these pellets are made from, but they dry up the “solids” and neutralize the smell. I’m serious. Between the pellets and the pee pad, I would say there’s a good 80% reduction in the amount of “cat box” smell that I notice. And that, to me, is the most astonishing thing about it all- the odor neutralization. I’ve been suffering the daily dig of semisolid sand for years; and I’m sure most of you have, too. I’m here to tell you, there’s a better way! I was a skeptic, too, but I gave it a shot and do not regret it one bit. You won’t either!
