Rolled the dice and won I guess.
I was pretty hesitant to order this judging by some of the more negative reviews, but the dimensions, look, and functionality all seemed to be EXACTLY what I wanted, so I took the chance, and I am very glad that I did.
Package arrived well padded, and secure. The box itself was kinda ready to fall apart, but the contents were in perfect order, undamaged, and with nothing missing.
Now, for the people who are complaining about difficulty putting this together, I can understand that this might be challenging, though frankly, I can imagine it being much harder doing it with a partner. The directions are kinda wonky, and not very detailed, but they are good enough to get you to the finish line. One of the pieces took me almost 30 minutes to figure out how to get things lined up JUST right so that one of the hex bolts would thread. A little frustrating, but whatever.
End result? A piece of kitchen furniture that is HIGHLY functional, attractive, feels pretty sturdy, with oodles of storage. I replaced a table with this thing, and I think I've practically doubled my useable kitchen space by using this as a prep surface.
Added bonus, I was going to try and find a nice little wine rack that might fit on one of the shelves. Lo and behold, the bottom external shelf has a lip to keep things from rolling off, which makes it perfect for wine bottles. It should hold 7 standard bottles. So in the end this thing probably saved me an extra 30-40 bucks off of what I would have spent on a wine rack.
Couldn't have been happier unless the thing showed up fully assembled and stocked with wine. But hey, I'm trying to be realistic here.
If you take the chance despite other peoples bad experiences, I hope yours turns out like mine. Basically perfect.
