Medaglia is excellent coffee and I've had it for more than 40 years now. This product is espresso-ground (finely ground) coffee and comes vacuum-packed. I've compared with other Italian brands I've had (Illy Dark Roast beans, Lavazza La Gran Crema beans) and the three are all excellent; however my personal opinion is Medaglia and Illy are tops (5 stars (5*) are best): Smoothness (Illy 5*, Medaglia 4.5*, Lavazza 4*) Aroma (Illy 5*, Medaglia 5*, Lavazza 4*) Crema with espresso maker (Illy 5*, Medaglia 5*, Lavazza 3.5*) - All three, as expected, did not produce much crema with a stove-top Moka maker or a Drip-Coffee maker. Lack of acidity (Illy 5*, Medaglia 5*, Lavazza 4*) Lack of bitterness (Illy 5*, Medaglia 5*, Lavazza 4*) It's not easy to rank them by "taste", which so depends on the individual coffee drinker, so I won't attempt here :) Price-wise, here's how they compare: Illy most expensive at $1.32.oz Medaglia (close to Illy) at $1.22/oz Lavazza least expensive at $0.50/oz By the way, Medaglia beans are also available but not from Amazon.
