A burst of energy at first -- then I felt fatigued after taking NMN.

ORIGINAL REVIEW (7/26/2019):
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
I bought this product a few weeks ago when it was on sale on Amazon. I waited more than a month before trying it, because I had had negative experiences with another NAD booster (NR), which actually depleted my energy levels (and left me feeling awful). And I was already doing some other things to increase my NAD levels, so I wasn't expecting much of an effect.
I finally broke down and took one 125 mg capsule. At that time, I didn't notice anything. So I doubled the dose to two capsules and took them along with a big cup of coffee this morning.
And... whoah... where'd all of this energy come from? My lawn doesn't even need mowing, but I'll be going out in a few minutes to mow it because I feel like just keeping moving. (LATER NOTE: I mowed the lawn... a huge lawn... on a hot day, and still had very high energy afterwards.)
It's surprising to me that NMN would have such a potent effect, considering that I felt terrible... I felt like death warmed over... when I was taking the NR. I tried two different brands of NR, TruNiagen and Life Extension. Most of them made me feel dizzy, weak, and sick; I needed to take several naps just to get through the day when taking NR, and still felt exhausted when I woke up. I tried NR for two weeks, thinking my body might need some time to adjust to it, then gave up on it. By contrast, taking NMN is totally energizing, at least so far.

7/28/2019 UPDATE:
––––––––––––––––––
I've taken this product now for three consecutive days.
• On Day 1, I took two capsules. I felt the profound burst of energy described above.
• On Day 2, I again took two capsules. I felt a strong sexual energy and libido (but no unusual energy beyond that). I felt unusually focused and many of my thoughts, when I wasn't focusing on work, were about sex.
• On Day 3, I took three capsules. I felt (feel) a mild increase in my sexual energy and libido, but my overall energy to go about my life wasn't increased. If anything, it had leveled out and was back to normal. I'm a bit more alert than usual, but not driven to run around doing cartwheels like I was on Day 1.
I'm thinking that I may need to cycle this product... two days on, one day off. I'll try that and report later on the results.

8/9/2019 UPDATE:
––––––––––––––––––––––––
After typing my 7/28 update, I took a few days of, then started taking it again. I don't feel a huge increase in energy anymore; the major blast of energy I felt on day 1 didn't return. But I have come to like it. I'm currently taking 2 capsules a day. I may up it to 4 caps a day just to see if I notice a difference.
Some people recommend keeping your dose to 250 mg/day, out of a concern that your body may cut back on its own NAD production if you go higher than that. I'm not too concerned, since David Sinclair, who's behind much of the research, takes 1 gram (1,000 mg) day with no apparent harm from it.
It is a good idea if you're taking NMN to also take two other supplements: resveratrol and TMG. Resveratrol is an activator for NAD+. TMG replaces the methyl groups which NAD+ uses up when it's metabolized. David Sinclair recently stated that he takes NMN, TMG and resveratrol together for this reason.

9/4/2019 UPDATE
–––––––––––––––––
Some recent studies have clarified that a good dose of NMN might be around 8 mg/kg of body weight per day. If you want to take this much, find your weight in kg (easy to find on Google) and multiply by 8.
In my own case, I weigh 180 pounds (81 kg). So I would need 648 mg of NMN (about 5 capsules). A friend of mine who takes NMN weighs 120 pounds. If this study's conclusions are accurate, 500 mg/day would be enough for her.
So I've upped my dosage to 5 or 6 capsules every morning, along with resveratrol and TMG. I'll be taking this higher amount for a month to see how it feels. It's pricey, so if you want to try taking this much, but have to watch your budget, you might might try doing so for one week on, then taking a week off.

10/1/2019 UPDATE
–––––––––––––––––
I hate so say it, because I was feeling enthused about NMN (see previous updates). But for the last week or two I’ve been feeling like NMN may be subtly draining my energy, instead of giving me better energy.
I do stair running. I’ve noticed for the past couple of weeks that it feels harder, not easier, to run a full set of stairs. When I take a day off from NMN (like today), I actually feel more energy without it.
I don't know why this would be true, unless perhaps I'm getting too much NAD+ in my system. (I do a lot of things to increase my NAD levels, including taking NMN, doing HIIT exercise (the stair running), taking cold showers, intermittent fasting, and prolonged periodic fasting. It may be that I already have enough and that giving my body the building blocks to make more (which is what NMN provides) is actually slowing me down somehow. (Or, as some have suggested, might be dampening my body’s own production of NMN.)
Or it could be that I’m simply taking too much. The recommendation to take 8 mg per kg of your body weight came from a reputable study, but that doesn’t mean it’s right for everyone. I’m going to be taking a break from it for a while, then when I resume taking it, I’ll try a smaller dose, three 125 mg capsules instead of 6, and see how that feels.
