I no longer have a cable box and I missed having a clock. I don't always have my cell phone on me... And I like to be able to see the time no matter where I am in the room. I needed something that was not too big, not too bright, battery /outlet powered, the two dots in the middle did not blink.... This fits all of my needs. You can dim this all the way to almost black or very bright (see picture). The size is right... It doesn't distract me while I watch TV. The set up instructions were easy (I haven't used the alarm though). It comes with a USB cable and connector. There are two USB holes in the back. The batteries are too keep all the info stored in the clock in case your power goes off... And when it comes back on you won't need to reset all your info on the clock.
