More Than Bright Enough as an Outside Light for a Camper, plus Weatherproof
This thing is perfect as an outside light on our tiny tent camper. It is weatherproof since it has a gasket inside the back cover. I mounted it to the exterior of the camper with a Velcro strip (see photos attached) to light the step at night as an added safety feature. We are getting up in years, and missing a step is not an option for us. I was concerned that it might not be bright enough at "only" 20 lumens, but as soon as I fired it up and put it in a dark bathroom I could see that (1) it was plenty bright---much brighter than I actually expected---and (2) the motion sensor is more than sensitive enough. Just starting to open the camper door from the inside turns it on instantly when it is dark, and again when returning still several yards from the camper The light is directed down so it lights the camper step perfectly. The reason I am using Velcro to mount it is so I can easily take it down to change out batteries, and using screws on the thin aluminum skin of our camper probably wouldn't work. Also, when rolling down the highway I take it down and tuck it inside so it can't fall off. UPDATE at the end of the camping season: I mentioned that I put the light inside the camper when on the road. The Velcro backing just happens to stick it to the rug inside the entrance door, and I've discovered an incidental benefit: when arriving at a campsite in the dark, as soon as I open the camper door our friendly little Mr. Beams snaps on and illuminates the interior of the camper so I can find other things I may need for setup. The light has held up all season under all weather conditions (truly waterproof). I think the alkaline batteries I put in might go two full seasons!
