How Two Old People Successfully Moved/Installed The Lucid L600 97 Lb. Bed Base Frame
We bought the Lucid L600 Twin XL bed for my 98 year old mother. This heavy and bulky bed frame weighs 97 pounds and the box measures 40 x 40 x 8. My wife and I are both in our late sixties. We did not want movers or neighbors helping with the installation due to covid risk so we successfully did the job ourselves. A big thank you to the reviewer named: animalsasleaders who gave us the idea to install the legs from underneath the frame thereby avoiding any heavy lifting of the whole frame. The challenge is to manipulate a 97 pound bulky frame without breaking the bolts that connect the legs to the frame. If you pivot on the legs or even try to slide the bed with the legs connected you risk snapping a leg bolt. Side pressure on the legs can damage them.
We used:
(4) 1" x 12 ft. ratchet tie down straps from the big box store that begins with 'H'.
(4) Large furniture sliders. Similar to these that are available on Amazon: SuperSliders 4724095N Reusable XL Heavy Furniture Movers.
(6) Large blue plastic buckets from the big box store that begins with 'L'.
Instructions:
Do not open the box until you move it to the room where you want the bed installed.
If you already opened the box before moving it to the bedroom then look inside and pull out the instructions. Locate the head of the bed and the foot of the bed. See instructions. The control box is on the head end.
Label the outside of the box with HEAD and other end with FOOT. Close the box. Use the ratchet tie down straps to close the box. They make great handles when handling this heavy bulky box.
If you did not yet open the box then you might not need to use tie down straps.
Next:
Stand the box on its edge and place furniture sliders underneath it. Slide the box into the bedroom.
Lay the box down approximately 36 inches to the left or to the right of where you want the bed to end up.
Open the box. Unfold the frame. It is heavy.
You might need to temporarily fold the frame closed and rotate the box to place the head of the bed where you want it. See instructions to determine which end is the head end. The control box is on the head end.
Place 3 of the blue buckets upside down approx. 25.5 inches to the left or right of the metal frame (not the bed edge).
Use 2 people to slowly lift one long side of the bed onto its other long edge so that it is perpendicular to the floor.
Walk to the other side and slowly lower it onto the (3) blue buckets.
We used a flashlight and the second person to carefully align the buckets to avoid crushing any wires or USB ports.
INSTALL BOTH CENTER LEGS BEFORE INSTALLING THE OTHER LEGS:
With the buckets supporting the metal frame, screw in the center leg first along with the center connection bracket. See instruction manual.
Now go to the other side of the bed and place the other 3 buckets upside down under the metal frame (not the bed edge). Again be careful not to crush wires or electronic components.
Install the center leg and connection bracket.
Now move one bucket at a time and install the other four legs.
This method may seem convoluted but it avoids any side pressure on the legs and more importantly it does NOT require lifting and flipping the whole 97 lb. frame off the ground. No mid air flip is required as described in Step 6 on page 10 of the manual.
