Dear everyone crying about this being in its original aspect ratio and not widescreen...what's wrong with you? Do you think that just because you want wide-screen, that it will magically produce new footage on the sides of the film that never existed for the series. Yes wide-screen existed back then, but this was filmed for television and while this may shock you if you haven't reached your tenth birthday, wide-screen televisions weren't to be found in that day and age, nor were things filmed for tv in wide-screen as a result. There is only 1 horrible way this could be repackaged in wide-screen. Stretch the image to cover the screen and make everything look so terrible that you'd beg to watch an out of shape VHS copy in its stead. Your TV would almost certainly already have this as an option for you anyway, but no buffoon would watch like that. Blu-rays and remastered material do not include some sort of magical dust that makes the disc show us what would have been on the sides (but was not even there) in this imaginary sci-fi world. If I take a picture with a camera and send you the picture, your phone can not show me images that aren't included in the picture. No fool would try to cgi in all the missing parts in live action and the attempt would inspire unprecedented levels of laughter in the world of media. Now that that's out of the way...these discs have just the right amount of enhanced effects without tarnishing or distracting from the original source material. And they dont make you feel like youre seeing something new or reworked...its substantial improvement fits in seemlessly. Wow!! Whats more, the original film is remastered to 1080...oh Heaven! It's just like seeing your favorite car from the 60s, but it's been washed and polished like you've never seen. The ultimate star trek series in its ultimate glory. Hats off to those responsible for a completely PERFECT job!!
