This is the first mattress encasement I have tried. I was concerned about the difficulty of putting it on the mattress. I was pleased that I was able to put the mattress encasement on by myself in less than five minutes. It was about as easy as changing the sheets. I took it off to launder it and did not have any problem with that procedure either. It does completely cover the mattress and has a zipper. I was curious to see if the waterproof claim was valid, so I poured a cup of water directly on the encasement and waited five minutes. The water was pooled on top of the encasement and I used a sponge to absorb it. I then unzipped the cover and verified that the mattress was completely dry! I was also expecting to have my quality of sleep comprised by using a waterproof product. I put the encasement on and then covered it with a mattress pad and sheets. I have not noticed any negative effects since we started using it. There is no noise like there would be with a plastic cover and I have not noticed any change in the temperature either. We have not noticed a problem with dust mites/allergens or bed bugs, but we may sleep better with the encasement since it provides peace of mind that we are protected against these pests!
