I bought one of these step benches from Amazon and loved it so much that I purchased another for my daughter (they're different colors--one is black/grey and the other is the black/teal/purple). Since I now have both sets, I discovered that the top black tread is different on each one. The black/grey has deep, straight grooves that are rough on the feet if you step while barefoot (I usually lay a cotton mat across it). These grooves also tend to trap debris that needs to be brushed out. The more colorful bench has a lighter surface texture (reminds me of a magnified image of skin) that my daughter and I both prefer. Right now, we just keep this one bench (stacked with all eight risers) for exercising in front of the TV. *Note: The black/teal/purple bench arrived with an air/glue bubble trapped beneath one spot. It's hardly noticeable and does not affect the integrity of the bench. Both benches are excellent, gym quality.
