I ordered two colors of the Plaka Flip Flops, the blue and black. I have very wide feet and my attraction to try the sandals was the woven give that it would allow and I thought they looked cute. When the sandals arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that they came in a little draw string burlap sack which is great for traveling. They are both absolutely adorable on and I have received many compliments. I wasn't that impressed with the sole at first glance, my immediate impression was that I wouldn't be able to wear them for any length of time because of my high instep. Again, I was pleasantly surprised that my feet did not hurt after wearing them for 6 plus hours. I am a size 8, which I ordered. They are very true to size with no additional allowance. My heel comes exactly to the end and toes reach the tip. If you lean towards 8 1/2, I would definitely order up to a 9.
