I have found Kik to be an excellent alternative to texting. One feature texting does not have is the ability to see that the person you are corresponding with is composing a text. When one is sending texts in a chat-like fashion this feature allows the communication to flow more like a conversation. One improvement that I would like to suggest is the ability to save a thread of texts if one chooses to do so. Currently, Kik only has a record of the last approx. 100 messages. New messages then push out the old ones and they are gone forever.
