Well designed and functional system!
I bought this TPMS a month or so ago and finally got around to installing it on my DP motorhome. Although it was easy to install and everything worked as intended, even following the manual it was not all that intuitive for me. (Although the documentation for the unit is above average --- a rarity these days.) I did not need any assistance in the installation, but before I bought the system I had exchanged several emails with the company and always received a quick response. A business card was included with the purchase with contact information for the technical support email and telephone number if you need it. These particular sensors are not flow through (EEZ sells a flow through model, also). That means I have to take the sensors off each time I add air. No big deal for me, as I would be taking valve stem covers off anyway, and these are actually easier to remove than valve stem covers, and I didn't want the added risk of the longer, heavier flow through designs. Before I actually installed the sensors, I removed them from the anti-theft cases (simply unscrew the anti-theft case by hand), and then took some silicone sealant and put a thin coat around each sensor's "seam" to prevent any issues with water penetration. (Unlike other sensors, you can replace the batteries in these units if need be ... about every three years they say, so you aren't forced to keep buying more sensors. However because the sensors can be opened to replace the battery, they can also leak water if care is not taken, so the silicone sealant should prevent that until I replace the batteries in the 2-3 years.) I also used an adhesive labelmaker to label the sensors, 1-6 (in my case; however the sensors include a label sheet that you can use), so I always know where they go if I ever pull them all off. I then set up the monitor for high/low pressure ranges by the axle (-5 below my tire setting and +18) and high temp ranges (I used the temp default). (Although +18 is slightly more than 20% over my tire air pressure setting, if my +18 is too sensitive and triggers too often as the tires heat up, I can always change that setting.) You can set any ranges you want for low pressure, high pressure and temperature, by the axle. I also used a quality tire pressure gauge to measure the actual air pressure in all six tires, before I installed the system, to compare the sensor accuracy. I then make sure my valve stems were clean, and applied a little anti-seize onto each valve stem. I then proceeded to install the sensors, one at a time, following the order on the TPMS monitor (PS front, DS front, PS o/s dual, PS i/s dual, DS i/s dual, DS o/s dual). As I installed each sensor (and holding the monitor within 6" of the sensor while it is being installed. Don't worry, the unit has a range of over 50' so I'm not sure why I was supposed to hold the two so close during installation), I was expecting the monitor to show tire pressure and temperature, but it does NOT. It shows the sensor identification number. (Later the pressure and temp witll appear, after all have been installed and you hold the CODE button down for 6 seconds.) I mounted the monitor in easy view of my driver's seat and began to test its performance. When I first turned on the system (it has a 60 hour internal battery, or works off of a 12v supply or hard wired, all of which were included, but so far I have used it off the battery until I splice the hard wire into my harness), no tire pressures showed on the screen, even though I could see the system working through the six tires! I was dismayed that I had done something wrong or there was a problem, but after a short interval, one then another sensor registered on the monitor. Apparently, it takes as long as 60 seconds or so for all of the sensors to register on the monitor when you first turn the unit on. So then I went outside and unthreaded a sensor to simulate a rapid air loss in the tire, and immediately the monitor alarmed (audio and visual). So based on my experience, apparently rapid air loss reports immediately, and normal conditions report a little less often. The sensors all read within 1 lb of the pressure I measured with my air pressure gauge before I began the installation process. (Regrettably, the tire pressure from the company that I just bought these new tires from, wasn't so accurate. I specifically told the tire company to set all tires at 85 lbs, even wrote it on the work order, but the tires came out 80-87 lbs.) Although the monitor is designed for up to 5 axles, I only have two axles now and that is all I am using. The monitor does not show the unused axles. It was daylight when I tested the monitor, but it was still easy to read with the backlighting, something that is important with older eyes. I haven't yet tested the readability with the backlighting, but the manual states that the backlighting (a) comes on with a wave of the hand in front of the monitor (b) based on level of light or (c) when the unit is in motion. I'm pretty happy with this unit. Unlike another company, no DOA sensors and does what it is supposed to do. If you are frugal, I strongly encourage you to check EEZ's website for additional information before you buy. I'll update as I use it more and if I have any problems.
