★★★★☆
Worth it, but not perfect.
This scooter met my price point (~$400) and performance (18mph, 11 mile range). My review is comparing this scooter to the various scooter models that I have ridden through the Byrd and Lime apps. I am a 5'10'' male and I weight 165-170 lbs. The speed is GOOD, I never get up to the max speed on a flat surface (~15-16 on flat), 18 mph is attainable on a slight decline. This speed is plenty fast, and you need to watch out for small potholes. These scooters won't roll over them like your bicycle would. The acceleration is OK, the other scooters I have ridden are slightly better in this category, but if I give a kick-push or 2 (which i don't think is doing too much) you're fine. Hill climb, ACCEPTABLE. It's not great, you will drop down to at least half your flat surface speed, probably less. And this hill climb is not on a particularly steep 1-block hill, even on longer and more gradual hills, my speed drops to 8, but i just give it a few kick-pushes to keep it going. Battery life is ACCEPTABLE, but it is not 11 miles, I would say it is closer to 8-9 mile range on a flat surface, this is also in daylight, so i'm not using the light ether. The app. It's fine, it works well enough, I like the adjustable speed limit. I use this when I am running my dog with the scooter, I keep it on gear 1 or 2 when doing that. The accessories are nice that they provided them, but they don't really fit on the handlebars. The phone holder and the cup holder do not fit well onto the handle bars. They interfere with your brake lever on the left side, or the throttle on the right side. Overall I would buy this again because the price point is great, and the speed is what I wanted. I would recommend this for people who have a short (4 miles or less) urban commute. I am also using this scooter as a way to live without a car and it is comfortable so far. Edit 1: 6 weeks after I bought this, the price dropped $140.00 Not happy about that. Edit 2: After riding this for 300+ miles, I have a flat front tire, and the rear one has worn to the point where it is very bumpy. I CAN NOT find a replacement for the front tire, patches don't work, and there is no solid tire that fits it. I contacted Swagtron, they wanted me to ship it back. They sent me a shipping label to ship it back for free. Few weeks later they shipped me a new one with down graded rear brakes and an added front electronic brake. I understand the need to have a front brake too, but it is even harder to stop now. The air filler extension tube burst into 3 pieces the first time I used it, the first one i received was good, so I use that. Edit 3: The new one stopped working after a couple of months. The scooter would power down every so often, but it wasn't that much of an issue. Then it just powered down one day and would not charge or start back up. Sent it back, received it Monday October 21st. The return shipping box was damaged and partially opened. the styrofoam packing material was broken and smashed. The scooter didn't work out of the box, jiggled a few of the exposed wires and it worked. Took it for a test run and the throttle sticks, the rear disc brake is bent and now rubs against the brake pads and makes a severe clicking noise while riding. Rode it to work and back on Tuesday (1 mile each way), rode it to work on Wednesday, it died 3/4 of the way there. Same problem as before. Asked for a half refund since I bought this scooter 1 year ago and have only been able to ride it ~6 months. I can't get a refund through swagtron because I bought it through swagtron's amazon store and not swagtron.com. I guess I'll spend another $20 and see what I get back. Customer service is responsive though.
