Plastic hands, slightly smaller than Plan Toys Dolls
We recently bought some mixed sets for our homemade dollhouse- Some dolls and furniture were Hape, some were Plan Toys. The rooms/furniture of each I would say are equal in quality, though the Hape are a little cuter, IMO. The dolls are cute as well, but I wanted to review and make some comparisons for someone who might be trying to decide between the two. The one thing I could not find ahead of time were measurements for both sets of dolls. This was important for two reasons: 1)how big we needed to build the dollhouse and 2) Could they be mixed and matched with other brands? The Plan Toys dolls are bigger. The furniture is still interchangeable, but the "mom" from the Hape set looks like a child compared to the "mom" from Plan Toys. It is especially noticeable on the dads for me. Actually the Hape parents look the same size as the Plan Toys children. I will try to post pictures to show, but here are the measurements of each: 4.5", 4.25" and 3.75" for the Hape dad, mom and kid, respectively. For the Plan Toys, they measure 5", 4.75", and 4.25 for the dad, mom, and kid, respectively. Basically, the Hape are about 1/2" smaller than Plan Toys. I tried to measure the bodies not including the hair. The heads of Hape are oval, whereas the Plan Toys Dolls are round. The hands of the Hape toys are plastic, as another reviewer stated. The Hape dolls are a little more cartoonish, but overall, I'd say the quality of each is very similar, just different style and size.
