Mixed Feelings
The artwork on the cards and the quality of cardstock are both excellent. I love the images and as far as looks go this has to be the best-looking plant deck I've seen. On the other hand when I consult the book as to how these creators intended these cards to be interpreted this becomes the deck that I hate while loving at the same time. When you read the book it becomes very clear that this is more of a political and social statement than it is a tarot deck. I'm all for celebrating the divine feminine and I don't automatically find a deck off-putting if it is female only, but this companion book about smothers you with it. Just understand before you buy that there are NO male representations in this deck and it is anti-patriarchy (which doesn't have to be bad) but this deck is entirely feminine. There are some other political and social views that are expressed throughout the book which are controversial and I won't go into them here. My issue isn't that I don't 100% agree with the creators' politics and social views but that there are things that are definitely skewed to fit their agenda and some "facts" are a bit fudged or misrepresented. The deck itself is amazing and as long as you leave the companion book out of the equation I highly recommend it. In truth, the deck itself is 5 stars but I'd only give the companion book 2 at best and in honestly probably more like a 1.
