I purchased these both as an upgrade from my current cloth/Ov-glove setup, but also because I've been baking sourdough bread and needed a mitt upgrade. Specifically, I had been struggling how to maneuver the pan that rests on the oven floor and at the same time pour in boiling water. Tongs didn't cut it, and I didn't trust the cloth mitts with boiling water. These gloves allow for both the dexterity and protection (heat and liquid) that I was hoping for. I wish I had these a few years ago when we were homebrewing beer quite a bit. Often our oven mitts would get wet and would immediately become useless when carrying a 10 gallon pot of boiling liquid. I wish they came in different colors, since I like to coordinate all of my silicone kitchen-ware in red. Haven't tried to wash them, they're a nice cloth on the inside.
