Excellent value for the price - but small
I tried this carrier with my cat since plastic pet carriers can be heavy. Overall, I like it better than my hard plastic carrier, but it's too small to keep him in for any long period of time.
What I like about the carrier:
- Lighter than the hard plastic pet carriers.
- Cheaper than those hard plastic carriers too.
- A removable soft fleece comes with the carrier which you can attach via velcro to the bottom board (also removable).
- You can wash the fleece in your washing machine.
- Carrier has both a side opening for your pet as well as a top opening where you can drop them into the carrier.
- Quality construction, it will last a long time.
What I didn't like about it:
- There is a leash/clasp inside the carrier which dangles down. I assume that this is for clasping onto a dog's collar so he can't escape quickly. However, this clasp is VERY short and I worry it might choke a poor doggie attached to it. Additionally, if you're not going to use the clasp, there's no way to detach or stow it so it dangles around and bonks your poor pet with the metal clasp. Uncool.
- The carrier says it's for pets up to 22 lbs. However, as you can see in my photo of Peanut, a 12-lb cat, it's quite cramped for him. He can't stand up inside the carrier. I have no idea how it could hold a 22-lb dog without stuffing him in with a shoe-horn.
- It's difficult to get the cat into the carrier because the top opening is very narrow & you can bet that the cat's NOT going into the side opening voluntarily - no way, no how! It's probably okay for dogs who can walk into the side opening though.
The picture shows my 12-lb cat, Peanut, in the carrier at the vet. (Which explains his grumpy expression.)
