Love this machine in spite of flaws
I hate to clean. I especially hate to mop, so I do it far less often than I should. But having 2 cats and 2 dogs, I have to vacuum far more frequently since their hair piles up in the corners if I don't. So to have a single machine that allows me to vacuum and mop at the same time is something I love. And, although there are some significant cons about the Bissell Crosswave Cordless Pet Pro, for me the pros outweigh the cons. Pros: 1. First and foremost, this is a good vacuum cleaner. 2. I find cords annoying. I love that this is a cordless machine. 3. As I've already mentioned, I like being able to vacuum and mop at the same time rather than having to vacuum then go back over the same floor with a mop. 4. I think the Crosswave is so much more sanitary than using a mop and bucket, which requires using water that is dirty after the first swipe to mop the rest of the floor. With the Corsswave, there is a tank of clean water, and the dirty water is sucked up into a separate tank. 5. I am not at all mechanically inclined, so I was a bit concerned about having to figure out all of the buttons and tanks, how to take them out and get them back in correctly. But in spite of the complexity of the Crosswave, the instructions were clear, easy to follow, and the parts that come off and go back on, especially in the dirty water tank, were fairly intuitive to figure our. 6. The machine lets you know when the dirty water tank is full. I don't know if it also lets you know when the clean water tank is empty since the dirty water tank fills up before the clean water tank empties. 7. It's wonderful to have a wet vac that's appropriate for household use and can be used on wet spills. Cons: 1 The clean water and dirty water tanks are WAY too small. I live in a 900 square foot mobile home with all laminate flooring. I had to empty the dirty water tank and refill the clean water tank 5 times to do all of the floors. That's emptying and refilling after every room and after the length of the hallway. And my rooms are not big. 2. The solids filter in the dirty water tank is fairly useless. Yes, pet hair and other debris did collect on the solids filter, but it also collected on every surface inside the dirty water tank, and there was a kind of muddy debris left in the bottom corners of the tank. I had to take a paper towel and wipe out the inside of the tank each time it needed to be emptied, then rinse it in the sink. 3. The charge didn't last for quite the full time I needed it. It needed to be recharged before I could finish my final room. But I didn't have the setting on the hardwood floor mode, so perhaps if I keep it on that mode, the charge will last a bit longer. I can't tell if the charge lasted for the half hour claimed in the description since I spent so much time emptying the dirty water container. So I don't know the actual amount of time I had the Crosswave turned on. Yet in spite of the cons, I still like the Crosswave. I'm imagining using it when I spill water or eggs or cornstarch on my kitchen floor. The Crosswave will be simple to lift off it's charger, take to the kitchen, then sweep up and wash up the mess. And I will now be washing my floors every time I vacuum, so my floors will be cleaner than they have ever been, and that feels good to me.
