Can't believe how well it worked.
Can I give it 10 stars? I am a pretty skeptical person and I figured it was worth less than $20 to try something that was natural. My daughter has a Pomeranian who is 4 and her back teeth had so much plaque it looked like a suit of armor, but gross armor not like cool knight armor. :-( She eats dry dog food and we tried all the teeth chews, etc. I thought this was something an older dog would be more likely to have. After the vet told me that depending on the breed a cleaning could be needed every few years and would require lab work, anesthesia and a $700-$1000 payout depending on the extent of the cleaning needed, I almost passed out! I found a mobile vet out of L.A. that would be in our area that charged $250 (I suddenly thought that was a bargain!) without putting the dog under, BUT... the dog had to remain calm. Our Libby can be labeled a lot of things, calm is not one of them. So began my quest for some other alternative, even if it would have less spectacular results. Anything seemed better than nothing (which by the way,was honestly what I thought I would get from this product). Desperate to not feel like a cheap, negligent pet parent I ordered the Plaque Off. I started giving it to all three of our dogs several weeks ago and I took a peek at Libby's back teeth this morning. It looked as though the "shell" was coming off her tooth so I gently pulled on it with my fingernail. I was completely shocked when a large chunk popped off which she promptly chewed up and swallowed! (Not a good idea I know but it was so fast I couldn't dig it out of her mouth, not to mention it made me gag) I then popped two more small pieces loose which I commandeered as I was ready this time. I am sold on this product. We can't all afford to spend more on dental care for our dogs than we do on ourselves. Not to mention anesthesia is not without risk to our pets. For an old dog or a hyper dog or a financially challenged person this is an amazing option. Personally I believe it was a better option than the others I looked into and for less than $20!!! On a final note my big dogs gobble it down with their food but Libby tends to nibble all day and often one of the other sneaky dogs will polish off her food along with the Plaque Off that was meant for her. I solved this by taking about 1/4 tsp of peanut butter or cottage cheese and mixing it in and giving it to her. That way I know she is getting her portion.
