Bose hits a home run in the wireless audio category
Like most I read the reviews for Bose and competing systems prior to making my decision on purchase. I wanted a whole house system. One I could control from my home computer or tablet.
I currently owned a Bose Soundlink Mini and an older model SoundTouch Wave radio. I was very happy with the performance of those systems so I bought two Bose SoundTouch 10 and a Soundtouch 30.
Many of the reviews chided Bose for not including technical specifications online. Technical specifications simply quantify performance as measured by instruments. Sound pressure levels (spls) DBs gain, bandwidth, etc, may impress some but the ultimate test is how does it sound to the human ear. Asking for technical junk on a Bose system is like asking Rolls Royce to quantify performance on a Silver Cloud.
I am fully satisfied with my purchases of Bose. You will never regret purchasing quality. But trying to save money in audio equipment will forever remind you of poor choices each time you listen to music.
Bose SoundTouch systems do not require extra controllers to use on a dispersed WIFI system like Sonos. The newest Soundtouch includes Bluetooth. Sonos does not. So I can link to a speaker by Bluetooth and have that music play on all grouped speakers. Sweet!.
I have not had any problem using my Wifi for audio while it is being used for other devices simultaneously. Works perfect!
If you want a whole house system and you are starting from scratch think twice before you try to save dollars on audio equipment. You cannot fool your ears with hyped specs.
Here is a statement in the Bose literature included with each Bose system. I could not agree more. Quote
"We strive to reproduce the musical sounds as closely as possible to those of the original performance. And we strive to avoid flashy sounds such as those associated with accentuated bass and/or treble frequencies. While those sounds may be initially attractive to the novice, they are not real and are not enduring"
