Put them in the dryer FIRST!
I have read a lot of these reviews and don’t mean to belabor the point. These pillows are magical blobs of fluffy cloud-like heaven. Others have described this better than I ever could. But the few negative reviews lead me to believe that the hold outs may have forgotten to pop their new marshmallow friends in the dryer before using. This is understandable, as the thought of putting something described as gel-filled into the dryer seemed dodgy as all hell to me. But don’t fall into this trap. PUT YOUR NEW FLUFF MONSTERS IN THE DRYER. Just do it, Choose low or no heat and you’ll be fine (and so will your dryer). Given my fears of a destroyed gel-filled dryer, I initially only put one of the pillows in for a tumble. (Yes, I realize the dryer still could have been ruined but what do you want?) The tumble-dried pillow was all the puffy, soft, yet somehow supportive magic that everyone in this comment section won’t shut up about. The other one was, well, just a pillow. An OK pillow, but nothing to be excited about and even still somewhat deflated after puffing up overnight. So, my very scientific conclusion is: put these babies in the dryer and be happy or don’t and be sad. Also, I have to assume the dryer step helps with the chemical smell some have complained about. I’m back buying another set for my three year old and I would NOT be doing that if there was chemically fumes coming off my lovely pillows.
