Just what I wanted. Mostly.
I bought this a few days ago, and I have no complaints. Well, almost no complaints. See the thing is, I have a 650 square foot house. I need something small to exercise on. I was looking for something EXACTLY like this...which engages my core, provides consistent light exercise, and allows my hands to be free to work on crafts, or video games, or whatever. The first thing that you should know is that you have to be in reasonably good shape to use this. I don't think it is suitable for very large people. It would be too hard to balance if you weigh too much, or if you're really out of shape. It is light weight enough that it's wobbly if you don't balance on it just right. That is part of why it engages the core. I think a good test would be, if you can't stand on one foot for more than a few seconds, you probably are not safe to use this. I did not put this together, my fiancé did. He's a handyman, so he had no problems with it. I can attest that if you put it together right, it feels sturdy and no, the wheels do not come off. The thing I hate about it is the seat. Good lord, it is hard as a rock. I can sit on it for only about 20 to 30 minutes at a time before having to get off, and my butt is always numb when I do. I strapped a cushioned air pillow to the seat to help, but it only helps marginally. The official website sold a gel seat cover, available only at the time of purchase I came to find out. I wish I had ponied up the additional $45 for it. Unlike it says in the TV ad, it does not "force" you to use your core. I have to actively sit up straight and concentrate a bit on lifting my legs at the hip flexor to engage the core fully. It's perfectly easy to slouch on this, and its a lot more comfortable on my rump when I do. It engages the core the most if you keep your arms at your side while sitting up straight. When having my arms out in front, such as using the phone or playing video games, it can cause my back to feel sore. I'm guessing it has something to do with the balancing and posture maintaining I have to focus on. I'm hoping with time that it will subside. I think the reason why most "As Seen On TV" products rate so low is because people have such high expectations, based on all the promises the ads make. I ordered this via the Sit N Cycle website, because I desired to make payments instead of pay outright. It took about 3 weeks to arrive, which did not make me happy. This bike is great for light exercise. Aside from the seat, it's easy enough to use for long periods of time. I've used it a total of 12 hours already. I have it on the strongest resistance, which is not much of a challenge. The thing that worries me is if the belt breaks, which people seem to have problems with. I hope that using the bike just for light exercise will keep that from happening. If it breaks, or if anything else happens, I will update this review. So far I have lost 5 pounds in 3 days. Most of that is without a doubt water weight, but in order to lose that much water weight I have to of burned through my stores of carbohydrates (which retain water). Once you burn through the carb stores and you lose a lot of water weight, it means your body has switched from burning carbs to burning fat. YAY!
