Well worth the $25 price tag
There are a lot of negative reviews on here about this blanket, but are they deserved?
In a single word, no. I suppose it depends on what your intended use of it is, but it isn't bad by any means. I've used it for the floor of a tent while camping and I've used for moving large objects. In those situations, it works great. In my eyes, that's what these blankets are really meant for. They're durable and will take a beating. This isn't the type of blanket you'd want to put on your bed and sleep with every night. Sure, it will keep you warm and if you needed it, this blanket would do the job, but it's much better suited for the outdoors and situations you wouldn't want to sacrifice a nicer blanket in.
Oh, and the smell. People keep mentioning the smell of this blanket. I'll admit, it does smell a bit like gasoline, but it's not the strong, overpowering smell that people have described in these reviews. Just to compare, I've got an expensive Pendleton wool blanket and it also has a similar smell. It's partly a wool blanket thing, and it's partly the smell of this wool blanket, in particular, being that it's cheaper and fire-retardant. Again, you're probably not going to love this blanket on your bed, but anywhere else it's not an issue and I never noticed the smell even in a small tent. It's only present if you put your face up to it and take a whiff. Maybe some are smellier than others, but then again maybe others have overexaggerated their experience or have a more delicate sense of smell. Either way, it's been a great purchase for my intended use.
