I spent hours trying to decide on a new air bed and blanket. the big problem is that the reviews are so inconsistent and contradictory, one person will love something and another person will hate it. one person says the stitching is bad and other says it's great. how do you make sense out of that? especially when returning something is typically so difficult and costly as to be impractical. All I can tell you is that I Love Love Love Love Love this blanket!!! it's soft and huggable, it feels like velvet. the Navy color is gorgeous, a deep rich velvet blue, a little bit darker than the photo. I didn't notice any defects. it was clean and ready for use. I only wash my blankets once or twice a year (as needed) so I don't understand people who wash them weekly, that's what sheets are for. putting any blanket in a washing machine is hard on it, also some machines are worse than others and will tear them apart from the pounding, this is not the blankets fault. I just received this today so I have no idea about it's durability, but I have no reason to think that it won't hold up to normal use. I will update this review if I encounter any legitimate problems. [update: 6 months and 2 washings later it still looks and feels like new, so no problems with durability] some people have complained that this is not warm enough. but this is NOT a winter weight blanket, if you are shivering in an unheated log cabin somewhere, this won't be warm enough for you. but for use in a heated house this is all of the warmth that you need. and if for some unfathomable reason it isn't then you can just add an additional blanket, because layering is a good thing. sheesh, the things that people complain about... (update: well some people are just naturally colder than others, my mom for instance, says it's cold when I'm hot. but layering is definitely the way to go). as far as I am concerned this blanket is perfect! But do pay attention to the size! the width seems a little bit smallish, I don't know what is normal but you only get about 10 inches overlay on each side (do the math). so I ordered the next size bigger and it reaches all the way to the floor. final thought.... people normally put bedspreads over the top of their beds. the main purpose of which is to make the bed look nice. but this blanket is so beautiful there is no reason to cover it up, it looks great all by itself.
