The toaster works like a charm. Customer failed to read directions before using toaster. Use toaster WITHOUT bread to burn off oils and dust FIRST. I did this twice to make sure the oil, etc. was burned off. Also in the directions: When toasting 2 sliced of bread, put the bread in the middle of the slots for even toasting. This should address some of the complaints.
