BRITA FILTER - from disappointment to satisfaction in 10 minutes!
This is day three. Today is March 19, 2018. We installed this product three days ago. At first I was disappointed. As some people have complained, the filter would pop out and water will spray from everywhere. Brita, as some of their competitors, are reputable companies in business for many years; I don’t think they would manufacture substandard products. Could it be a defective product? Maybe. It happens in the best of families.
So I dismounted the unit and reinstalled it, making sure that it was appropriately leveled with the water spout threads and firmly tighten. No problem so far.
Out of curiosity, I further researched these complaints and learned that most of the time these issues arise because the installation was not done correct – as much as we think it was done right! Another important discovery was that when in ‘filter mode’ the water pressure should be in medium or low, not at full pressure. Not only does it avoid the above mentioned problems but the slower the water pressure the better it is for the activated carbon to perform well thus offering a better filtering experience.
As far as water quality, I am not an expert but we do know that it meets EPA and the appropriate NSF standards.
As far as first hand experience goes, I can say unequivocally that the taste and smell of the water, pretty bad in my region, changed dramatically. Until now it was difficult, to say the least, to drink tap water. However, that bad taste and smell of the water is simply gone once filtered. Its obvious this product does what is supposed to do
UPDATE: Today is April 4th – a little over two weeks into using this Brita Faucet Filter and we have had no problems whatsoever. Because we are working on some kitchen renovations we had to uninstall the filter and upon reinstalling it two days later there were no complications at all. Again, at first try, we had a little leak but all I did was loosen it a little and tighten it again and problem solved. A quick solution.
AN ANECDOTE: As stated above, we were without running water for two days due to kitchen renovations. We had some Brita-filtered water in the refrigerator and we bought bottled water in case it was needed. Unknown to me, we ran out of the stored Brita-filtered water. My wife brought me a glass of store-bought bottled water and I immediately noticed a difference. I told my wife, “This water tastes different, not like the one I drank earlier”. That’s when I learned that we had run out of the tap water filtered by our Brita and that it was the bottled water what I was drinking.
