While the performance of Sonicare is great, across the board, the ProtectiveClean and Essence line have the superior durability and best price points. If you want bells and whistles, this is not the Sonicare for you, although the 5100 and 6100 come with a few. If you want simplicity, coupled with the amazing oral care you get from a Sonicare, this is the one for you. I purchased the ProtectiveClean 4100 in black. It came with a charger and 1 plaque control brush head. Also came with a coupon for when I purchase new heads. This toothbrush will work with any of the "click-on" brush heads. Tips for new buyers: 1. The brush head is the most important aspect of this. It will determine what you will achieve while brushing. Talk to your dentist and have them tell you what area you need to focus on, then purchase the brush head that correlates. If you need plaque control, get that brush head, if you need gum care, get that brush head, etc. 2. KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! This is a warranty item, so if something happens, you will need your receipt. 3. Register so you get an extended warranty.
