I first purchased one of these lunchboxes nearly five years ago with immediately wonderful results. My son used it every school day from 14-months to 4-yrs of age. Since he was expected to carry, open, close, and store away his own lunch the box went through many adventures. My 2nd son also used it until we decided to retire it and purchase a new one. I’ve tried other lunchboxes with poor results. This is the only one that has withstood harsh treatment on a daily basis. It rarely leaks (though I have never tempted fate by storing broth alone in the sections). I love these enough to have purchased the adult version and adult salad container (also great buys). Some things to keep in mind: 1.) You must follow the care instructions. It isn’t advisable to use the lower rack in a dishwasher. As often as I can I hand wash my boxes and occasionally machine wash and sanitize. 2.) A friend of mine did not have much success with her cover case. She complained of mold, but I have purchased 4 over 5 years with no mold issues. 3.) another reviewer said the clasps of the covering broke off after a few weeks of use. My current lunchbox for my younger son has had this same problem happen to his box. It’s truly frustrating because they are such good boxes but decently expensive to have this happen after a few weeks of use. The first clasp broke a month ago by my son. I wrote it off as maybe my son being too aggressive. I bought this particular one in March. My son broke his first clasp in April. Tonight I managed to break the 2nd clasp without adding much pressure to the covering which tells me that their clasps May come weakened. I’ll continue to rubber band the thing until a new one arrives I guess, but dang. 4.) I wish Bentgo would sell covers and inserts separately as well as together. Perhaps by mixing and matching the funky colour choices? If they sold them separately I’d be able to replace faulty parts for a cheaper price. Overall this company sells great products. If I can have one box that extends well past the lifetime warranted, and own others that work perfectly, then I understand my latest purchase is not the norm. I will be purchasing more because they are usually incredibly useful and other brands have not come close to comparing in ease, durability, and product claims.
