Full Comparison of Different Models of this Revolutionary Snorkel Design
This is a Full Comparison of Different Models of this Amazing Snorkel Design
I did a ton of research before purchasing these masks. From the reviews online I could not see the pros and cons of this mask versus the standard clear mouth type full face mask. I also was unable to find anyone that had owned both the original Tribord mask and the Seaview. I now have owned one of each and will review them all here. Starting off first with a general review of the full face mask design.
--------------- Full Face Snorkel: ---------------
I am truly amazed by this product/design. I have scuba dived and snorkeled with many different kinds of equipment and nothing has stood out to me as anything special until I came across this mask. Really, for any person doing casual snorkeling, going on a tropical trip, this mask is a game changer. All of the different "models/brands" are going to be leaps and bounds better than a regular snorkel set up. Everything it is advertised as is true and I am a full believer in this mask.
Pros:
Easy breathing through mouth and nose!
Easy draining right out of the bottom/chin!
Easy adjusting of fit!
No to minor leaking around face; even with 4 day stubble!
Viewing area is far greater than most masks!
Talking is actually possible without taking of the mask. Its muffled but possible; better than impossible with a traditional mask!
Keeps your face dry, makeup/sunscreen/ on!
Cons:
Diving deeper than 10ft with this mask will cause an uncomfortable amount of pressure
Requires Deep breaths flush; once in a while I find I have to take a big deep breath to "flush" the air in the mask.
Looks; honestly I think a regular snorkel more is goofy looking; this design is just not the normal... yet!
--------------- The Seaview 180 Panoramic: ---------------
This mask is for the user looking for the panoramic view. The viewing truly is panoramic but I found that to be in issue. Although it is impressive to be able to see so much, it actually made me a little dizzy after a while as the lens is curved. Also because the lens is curved the water/objects feel de-magnified. Everything looks a tiny bit further away than the regular full face snorkel. This actually could be a positive for many people; if you are looking for top level viewing/cruising this would be the mask for you.
Pro:
Panoramic View; Truly panoramic
Price; better than the Tribord
Looks; mask looks the most traditional in my opinion
GoPro Mount; Good for those not wanting to hold their GoPro
Bag; Nice mesh bag.
Cons:
Demagnification; objects feel slightly farther away
Panoramic viewing might cause some people to feel dizzy after extended use
Quality; The quality is good by itself but when compared to the Tribord, the materials and construction is of lesser quality.
--------------- Seaview 180 Snorkel (Clear Mouth Area) ---------------
This mask is the "standard/original" full face mask. And has a flat lens. You still can view out the sides so you get a semi panoramic view. Personally I find the traditional flat lens to be my favorite and easiest on the eyes. This mask is well built but as with the Seaview Panoramic, when compared to the Tribord Mask, Tribord takes the cake for overall quality.
Pro:
Standard Flat lens; easy on the eyes
Price; better than the Tribord
GoPro mount; good for those not wanting to hold their GoPro.
Cons:
Quality; The quality is good by itself but when compared to the Tribord, the materials and construction is of lesser quality.
No "true" Panoramic viewing
Bag; Came in a broken cheap plastic zip bag
--------------- Tribord Easybreath: ---------------
This is the winner for me. Every full face mask is so much better than a traditional snorkel set up but the Tribord all around is the best. The quality of materials and molding is superior to the Seaviews. Not that the Seaviews are bad, just that the Tribord is better and feels like it will last far longer. We own both a Seaview and a Tribord and are both happy with our choices.
Pros:
Material; weight and overall feel of quality
Molding; Slimmer shape and even the silicone gasket follows the jawline up to the cheek more accurately.
Lens; Lens quality feels like it will scratch less.
Bag; Comes with a very nice mesh bag
Cons:
Price
No GoPro; this is a pro for me because I prefer to hold my GoPro
No "true" Panoramic viewing
If I was purchasing these individually without comparing them, they all would get a 10/10. But after having them all side by side There are definitely Pros and Cons to each. They all are going to revolutionize snorkeling for you!
