I waited awhile to review this item because I wanted to be fair in my comparison to the OXO product. Let me start by saying that the majority of our kitchen utensils are OXO, not Simple Human. For us OXO has always been the go to for all of our kitchen needs. However, that was not the case when it came to a paper towel holder. We purchased the OXO back in 2009. The OXO worked and looked great for a little over 2 years. Then we started noticing that water spots were beginning to look more like rust spots and even some of the surface of the arm and the base were noticeably pitting. I assume like most people paper towel holders will be beside the sink for ease of access. If that is the case you do not want to get the OXO wet and you definitely want to be careful ripping off a sheet if your hands are wet. Which kind of defeats the purpose of having a paper towel holder if the surface pits and rusts if it gets wet. This is not the case with the Simple Human paper towel holder. It looks just like new and we get it wet daily from having wet hands and when hand washing crystal and China. The OXO holder was well constructed and designed like all OXO products, but for the long haul we had to get rid of it because we could not stand its appearance any longer. We replaced it with the Simple Human. So after three years we strongly recommend the Simple Human Tension Arm paper Towel Holder that is also sold on Amazon. When we got rid of our OXO holder we purchased the Simple Human as a replacement. Three years have now passed and the Simple Human looks just like new. No pitting or rust spots and we keep it right by the kitchen sink like we did the OXO Holder. So perhaps we just got a bad OXO holder that did not have good longevity. I cannot say for sure. But for us, aesthetic matters a lot and the Simple Human delivers great design, function and durability whereas OXO was only able to deliver great design and function but fell far short on durability. This Simple Human Holder wipes up easily with just warm water and no residual water spots remain. This is definitely a 5 star product. Try it, you will not be disappointed and it fits all sizes of paper towels. We prefer the Bounty Select-A-Size Huge Rolls that are sold by the case on Amazon too.
