I favored the results of my research prior to purchase. After receiving it, I was impressed with the size & weight. It's easy on the eyes and I like the way it operates. Since I use a lot less in the way of canned goods than most people I know, I didn't actually try it out for several days. Once I did, my reaction was "wow!". I do believe I have the best can opener *ever*. If this unit holds up well over a protracted period of time, I'll remain a 'happy camper'. Now, for the reason I only gave it 4 stars i/o 5. Upon opening perhaps the 3rd or 4th can, I noticed something *very* disturbing. As I removed the lid, I spotted a very thin strand of metal (about 1-1/4 inches long) jutting out from the top of the can (perpendicular from the body of the can). Promply removing it, I could only think that had it fallen *into* the contents of the can I might have ingested it! To better illustrate, I *could* have proceeded to empty the contents into a bowl or saucepan and had that metal fall off in the process. Hopefully, this won't happen again....but....anyone buying this can opener *should* be aware of the possibility & be vigilant in it's use. At this time, I really think this *is* the best one on the market and I'm darned glad to have it. Hope this helps anyone considering the purchase.
