This game is free to play with in game purchases possible. You can play without buying, but as with most games you miss out on features or it takes longer. There is great support by the developers and community (forum) as the game undergoes updates regularly,BUT the bad part of this game is that the versions are not updated on Amazon as quickly as those who play through other mediums. This means you miss out on somethings until you can get the game updated. That really is my only frustration as the game more than makes up for its faults when it works...
