These are handy, attractive little pouches that are great for students. I put my pens/highlighters in one pouch, and my headphones/charging cords in the other, and with that I'm good to go! The zippers are smooth, the material seems sturdy, and the dark grey mottled color means you can keep them in your backpack and they won't pick up too much dirt. The pouches are not that big--I can fit my macbook charger, iphone charger, and a set of earbuds in one pouch, if I pack up the cords neatly. I wouldn't recommend these for cosmetics necessarily because of the narrow width. If packed a certain way, then the pouches will stand up on a table on their own, but I don't think they're necessarily designed that way. They do tend to fall over. For my purposes, though, they are great! And they don't *look* like your typical pencil pouch.
